Funerals & Office send offs (Play actors needed)

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Recently I've been stimulating my mind with some psychometric tests. (Yeah you know how today's world is into this psychological personality trait stuff and your actions are a result of your environment social parental factors bla bla "madness" and they use this to evaluate your likely performance on a job or partnership or just your intelligence). Anyways let me not get distracted. My most recent can be found at http://kevan.org/johari?name=AngelrBrown where I had to place comments about myself and await strange acquaintances, who think they know me, to do their cross examination of my life.

So the thought struck me, have you ever been to those office send offs when all of a sudden the office rat gets a sudden transformation to office high horse or at funerals where only saints are apparently buried?
I once sat at an office send off and witnessed (I'll use fictitious names) George Bush begins to speak of Bin Laden as his biggest ally and most helpful assistant. Maybe i shouldn't have use the Bush simile, as anything can come from his mouth these days, but I just thought why the pretending.
I guess everyone wants to leave graceful exits and don't burn bridges totally.
So now I wonder the real thoughts on those birthday cards everyone is forced to sign, the true results of any of my character tests.
I will feel more confident seeing anonymous than a friendly name :-)

Surrogacy - Revenue, Health or Pain Management

>> Monday, October 29, 2007

At some steady pace the idea of having a surrogate mother to bear one's child is creeping into the general public carried by acclaimed personalities. For many it has become an income channel that pays well. Imagine the hubby saying "Go honey bring in some more bucks and remember, you get a few months off from work again.. woiiee".
Yes there are those who face medical concerns where the doctor advises against bearing their own child or they face the inability to have a child naturally and so they open the revenue channel for some.
But aside from the broad health factor there is the variation where a healthy couple will opt for surrogacy due to fear of child bearing.
The relief from the exercise of child birth, yes, that 9 month experience where your body changes and at the end of a few hours of travailing then pop comes the cute weasel and weeks of body recuperating.

I would think this idea of relieving pain would sell on quickly but I've heard in many close corners "It's just the experience of having your own child is magical". Yes, they try & sell the argument this is one pain you must enjoy for yourself.

Pain enjoyment - a very challenging oxymoron for me. Well at the moment I'm not faced with this decision but whether you are doing this for revenue, health or pain management, one thing I'm certain of, there is some emotional issues up in here!

Lonely, I'm Mr lonely

"Lonely is the night when I'm not with you
Lonely is the night ain't no light shining through
Till you're in my arms till you're here by my side
Lonely am I "...

Air Supply's hit song "Lonely is the night" rings in my ears these days. Since my fiance left me with the "children", bills to pay, mortgage to sort out, and a rising credit card bill the feeling of loneliness has greeted me.
I will admit the first night was fine as I hung out with the guys then the second night i hung out with the guys, but by the third night you're like "Something is just wrong and you go, sulk & look at the walls". I even contemplated the other evening to have a few drinks with Fidel & Dela but Fidel has been acting up lately so I decided I'll pass on it.

So now I'm just balancing figures on my own and getting the house together for her return. One person says, sometimes you truly don't know how much you love something until its not in its rightful place. "Baby come back to me"!

Yes my princess goneeeeeeee, far far awaaayyyyeeeee & she left me aloneeeeeeee......

A lifelong solid relationship

>> Tuesday, October 23, 2007

There is so much talk about relationships and building partnerships today. The natural instinct for bonding and the desire to find security is fueled by the media and conversation of our peers. Now, many are bustled in the search for a stable and fulfilling union and declare looking for the right partner seems at times an illusive task.

In this search there is also a spiritual side in which I would like to recommend a suitable helper for a life long journey. Let's look at the characteristics of the person, the experience of others and the impression left on our lives.

For a life long solid relationship that will bring total fulfillment (completion), I recommend Jehovah.

1. He's a giver of good advice and very supportive (Psalms 73:24)
2. He's beautiful and well admired (Psalms 27:4)
3. He's committed & faithful, worthy of trust (Heb 10:3)
4. He stands for good principles and has great values (Heb 5:12)
5. He's royalty (1 Pet 2:9)
6. He's financially stable. Has the whole world in his hands (Job 36: 26-31)
7. He's strong (Psalms 24:8)
8. He is Love (1 John 4:16)

While I recommend him, please note, in every relationship there is the compatibility factor.
Build yourself a clean heart, having the same mind (focus/liking) for the things he desires and ensure you seek him quickly while he may be found (Isaiah 55: 6-7)

Why Did I get Married?

>> Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Over the weekend a group of us (actually my fiance and I and another married couple from church {Rohan & Tamara}) were the final count to make it to the cinema to see Tyler Perry's "Why did I get married?"

The film was funny, and the best comedy I've seen in a long while. It had some interesting scenes that provoked some healthy laughs and stimulated thoughts on relationship building. The film depicts four couples spending their annual vacation at their rendezvous mountain cabin where they share ideas and just have a good time. What an unexpected turn things went, when news of certain situations came to the table.

Watch and enjoy. I'll recommend a few laughs for those interested.

Replacing Satan "Buts" with God's "Ands"

>> Friday, October 12, 2007

We often say and hear, "I want to serve God, BUT I don't think I'm ready".
Let us stop doubting the power & promises of God who has called us with a
royal shout. Satan wants to put the "buts" in your sentences but we can replace Satan's "Buts" with God's "Ands"!
Rather, Lets make that, "I want to serve God AND he is making me ready".
"I want to run for God BUT I keep falling". Lets make that, "I want to run for God AND he will pick me up if I fall".
The devil's "but" is a free transport for raising an issue or counter balancing a positive thought . It carries with it the baggage of
abuse & self defeat. It's often used as a tool for excessive discounting the fact you had earlier realized.
You saw God as the source however, the devil used his "but" to raise an issue, counter balance & discount the power of God.
God recognizes we are human and have limitations and he has sent his son for us to understand, how to live positively and meaningfully.
God's "And" is a demonstration of our conviction in God and is a channel that flows with streams of praise, rivers of life and fountains of blessing.
Start building positive attitudes which will reflect your faith in God. God has said "Cast your care upon him. Come unto him and he will
give you rest. You can do all things through him who gives you the strength". Lets begin leaning on God and not our imperfections for with God he can make me
whole, new and better individual.

Thoughts are the sparks that ignite Action. Build positive thoughts and watch the raging fire!

Why do we short change ourselves; it surely isn’t God!

>> Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Its evident examining the scriptures, that which was written afore time was for our learning. As we travel through the pages we see that man constantly desire to sin.
But why do we? Why do we rob ourselves the blessings God would have us to obtain and short
change ourselves from being far better than where we currently stand. In spite of constant warnings, this age driven by inform ation so easily accessed, we still stumble and fall short.
It’s clear to me we need to have a program that develop our application of the knowledge. Knowledge is not the problem; it’s our manifestation in the trust of God.
There needs to be a mentoring program for our brotherhood, the family we dearly love. A constant encouragement and help for ourselves with friends and folks involved in our lives
helping us daily. People who see us and give and not necessarily we turn to for help, encouragement, strengthening. A proactive response and not a reactive one. Examine after the death of Joshua Judges 2: 11-15 How Israel fell away. Then the death of Gideon,
Judges 8: 33-35 again the same predicament.
Its not failing to know the will of God was the problem. Having a motivator– a person or program in our lives surely does help. Thank God for things like camp I can say personally and spiritual friends I can move from my downtimes to my constant growing uptime.
Lets work towards being our brothers keeper and not afraid to make our lives a quality one in which we can motivate and inspire folks and build a strong Christian network in this island of Jamaica. As 1 John 4 questions us, How can we see our brother in need and lock our bowels of compassion up? Lets make a special prayer for commitment and programs/people who will make the difference.
